The House of Wellness – Season 5, Episode 10

This week on the show footy’s finally back and we pay special tribute to one of the greats of the game, the late Danny ‘Spud’ Frawley.  Chelsea Frawley, the daughter of the St Kilda football legend shares her father’s legacy – an initiative by the Club designed to open up the conversation around mental health. It’s time to talk!

We’ve had braille Lego and braille smartphones for the visually impaired. And now the humble white cane has been replaced with the SmartCane – a revolutionary new device that with voice assist, detects objects 1.5 metres away. We speak to its visually impaired inventor in the UK.

Inspired by AFL legend Neil Daniher in his fight against Motor Neurone Disease, another AFL great in South Australia is also speaking up – this time about Parkinson’s Disease – a disease that affects around 100,000 Australians.

We all know the importance of a balanced diet. Lots of fresh fruit, vegies and whole grains… and a banana to keep us regular! Luke Hines tells us why we should all be going bananas for healthy eating while the Doctors Carr get inside our ears with everything you need to know about two of our least cared for body parts.

Plus, it’s a condition affecting some of the world’s most recognised faces such as Brad Pitt and Stephen Fry. They both suffer ‘prosopagnosia’ or ‘face blindness.’ What does it mean? Join Luke Darcy and Jo Stanley this week to find out.

Cast: Luke Darcy, Jo Stanley, and Luke Hines, with Gerald Quigley.
