Magdalena Roze on her key mantras for a happy life
Swapping the frenetic city pace for a relaxed rural lifestyle has allowed this TV presenter and meteorologist to shine.
Bright, bubbly, down-to-earth and authentic, Magdalena Roze’s sunny disposition is easy to warm to. She talks candidly and her honesty is refreshing.
Mum to Archie, 18 months, and set to be married at the end of the year, she has just released her first book, Happy & Whole, is an ambassador for L’Oreal’s Botanicals Fresh Care range and is immersed in her rural lifestyle.
Magdalena admits she has faced some significant challenges in the past couple of years, yet believes such experiences have been necessary to take her down the path she is now on and says she has “never felt happier”.
When Magdalena’s partner, celebrity chef Darren Robertson, was given the opportunity to open his Three Blue Ducks restaurant in Byron Bay in 2015, she urged him to seize the chance.
“It was such an amazing opportunity for a chef. My gut instinct was to say ‘absolutely, go for it’,” Magdalena says. “I didn’t think about the impact on my career, or even on my life.”

Magdalena’s Mantras for Life
Prioritise your family
If things aren’t going well at home, nothing’s great. When things are good at home, you can take on the world.
Happiness starts at home
There’s no such thing as bad weather, if you’re prepared for it
I genuinely believe if you embrace a season it’s really enjoyable. If it’s raining, miserable and freezing but you’re all rugged up inside watching it beside a fire with a glass of wine, that’s pretty amazing. It’s the same thing as humidity. If you happen to be in a hammock with an icy cold coconut drink, a great book and a fan, there’s something magical about that, too. It’s just about embracing whatever weather or season you’re in.
Coconut oil is amazing
It’s solid at room temperature, so can be used as a lip balm. It’s super nourishing and it doesn’t matter if you eat it. I use it as an under-eye moisturiser.
Some days, if I’ve got nothing on, I’ll put it in my hair and just tie it up and leave it in before I wash it – it’s nourishing for hair.
